چکیده

Abstract In this research work we introduce a new sampling design, namely two-stage cluster sampling, where probability proportional to size with replacement is used in the first stage unit and ranked set second order address issue of marked variability sizes population units concerned sampling. We obtained an unbiased estimator mean total, as well variance estimator. calculated relative efficiency design simple random stage. The results demonstrated that more efficient than competing when significant variation observed units.

Estimation of Subpopulation Parameters in One-stage Cluster Sampling Design

Sometimes in order to estimate population parameters such as mean and total values, we extract a random sample by cluster sampling method, and after completing sampling, we are interested in using the same sample to estimate the desired parameters in a subset of the population, which is said subpopulation. In this paper, we try to estimate subpopulation parameters in different cases when one-st...

Multivariate Factor Analysis on the Students of Persian Gulf University's Educational Motivation: Two-Stage Cluster Sampling

Unfortunately, in the recent few years, decreasing the level of educational motivation among students at various levels of education has been increasing and has plagued many of the university educational units in the country and this can have devastating and irreparable effects in the near future. In this research, using statistical analysis of the number of questionnaires, social factors are i...

Performance of empirical predictors in two-stage cluster sampling

To evaluate the performance of the empirical predictors presented in San Martino et al. (2005), we compute the cases where they are the best, “equivalent” to the best (tables 1) or poor (table2). We consider only the case of equal unknown within cluster variances. First, we consider the cases in which each of the proposed predictors has the best performance, i.e. we compute the percentage of ca...

Two-Stage Importance Sampling With Mixture Proposals

For importance sampling (IS), multiple proposals can be combined to address different aspects of a target distribution. There are various methods for IS with multiple proposals, including Hesterberg’s stratified IS estimator, Owen and Zhou’s regression estimator, and Tan’s maximum likelihood estimator. For the problem of efficiently allocating samples to different proposals, it is natural to us...

Sampling of subpopulations in two-stage surveys.

Many health and other surveys aim to produce statistics on small subpopulations, such as specific ethnic groups or the indigenous population of a country. In most countries, there is no reliable sampling frame of the subpopulations of interest, hence it is necessary to sample from the general population, which can be very expensive. A range of issues and strategies for sampling rare subpopulati...
